Jim Reid
Jim Reid, born 29 December 1961, is the lead singer for The Jesus and Mary Chain. He released his debut solo single, "Song For a Secret," in 2005, and the follow up "Dead End Kids" in 2006. He now lives in Sidmouth, Devon, with his wife and two kids. He also founded band Freeheat in 2006.
William Reid
William Reid, born 28 October 1958, is the main guitarist, main songwriter, co-founder, and occasional singer for the Jesus and Mary Chain. He preformed under the name Lazycame during his solo career, and was involved in the production of the Sister Vanilla album, "Little Pop Rock."
The Jesus and Mary Chain released their first single, "Upside Down," in 1984, before releasing their critically acclaimed debut album "Psychocandy" in 1985 under Warner Music Group Corp. Their biggest commerical success was achieved in 1987 with "Darklands," which spawned the hit single "April Skies." Their third studio album, "Automatic," got them their first charting singles in the US with "Blues From a Gun" and "Head on."
Their popularity continued into the 90's with their albums "Honey's Dead" and "Stoned & Dethroned," as well as their biggest commerically succesful single "Sometimes Always." They re-signed with Sub Pop Records and re-signed again with Creation Records for the release of their 1998 album, "Munki." The band broke up in 1999, but reunited in 2007, and released "Damage and Joy" in 2017, and "Glasgow Eyes" in 2024.
Justin Welch
Justin Welch, born 4 December 1972, is English and the drummer of The Jesus and Mary Chain since 2022. Before joining the band he was in bands Spitfire, Elastica, Piroshka, and Aircooled, and working on music with Stephen Duffy, the Asbo Kid, and The Rockerati. He lives in St Leonards-on-Sea and is married to Sharon Mew, who has worked for the bands Elastica and Heave.
